We witness a variety
of relationships among women in this androcentric and heterosexist society. As
we acknowledge that one standard answer regarding lesbian identity is difficult,
if not, impossible, diverse lesbian representation can partly point to the
answer to lesbian identity.
From Sisterhood and friendship among women in contradictories of life to
passionate love between women, there are many relationships in lesbianism.
¡®Project L¡¯ aims to investigate some aspects of its genealogy. This is the first
questioning of who and what we lesbians are in this society today. While
avoiding one fixed lesbian identity, we attempt to revisit and support our
changing faces and struggles in order to survive and get the ! ! power we
deserve.
In other words, we expect ¡°Project L¡± would show cultures of individual lesbians
and lesbian communities and make lesbian identity visible in Korean society.
This exhibition attempts to cultivate our imagination of different identities
and practices by shared pleasure, subversive revision and fluid identities, as
we free ourselves from the gaze of internal othering and bring lesbians¡¯ culture
to the public sphere.
